Spaghetti Garage ha preferito vivere il pre-evento nel weekend del 15-18 maggio godendosi appieno il clima primaverile austriaco, ben allietato dai VAG enthusiasts europei. Come una gigantesca chioccia, il GTI Treffen accoglie tutti i propri figli sparsi per il vecchio continente, riunendo e rinvigorendo, anno dopo anno, il senso di appartenenza a una grande famiglia che ci spinge inesorabilmente a macinare centinaia di km per essere presenti e festeggiare la grande reunion.
Spaghetti Garage has preferred to join a weekend before the official show, enjoying the delighting austrian wheather, well gladded by european VAG enthusiasts. Like an enormous hen, the GTI Treffen receive all its sons, diffused in every country, strenghtening the sense of membership towards a big family, and pushing us to drive thousands and thousands miles to celebrate this big party!
La vastità dell’evento ha coinvolto una mole tale di appassionati tale da creare, tra quelli più attenti ed esigenti, il bisogno di pubblica intimità e di egocentrica esclusività. Tale sentimento ha portato dunque a prediligere i weekend antecedenti l’evento ufficiale in modo da permettere di esporre le proprie realizzazioni ad un pubblico più ristretto e attento. In sintesi, ciò che si gusta al pre-wörth come novità in primavera, in estate è già storia.
The GTI Treffen’s vastness has involved a variety of enthusiasts so wide that simultaneously generated, among the most accurate and exclusive VAG guys, a need of intimacy and egocentric exclusivity. The weekends before the GTI Treffen let these enthusiasts show their projects to a little and loving audience. In conclusion, all the spring preview seen in the weeks before the official show will be history in summer.
Tuttavia il bacino di utenza del GTI Treffen è talmente vasto che quantificare il concetto di pubblico ristretto e di nicchia risulta essere complicato. Per semplificare possiamo dire che da Faak am See a Velden ci sono 12,7 km: alla sera ci vogliono dai 30 ai 40 minuti per arrivare alla Eni. Due corsie, due cordoni: finestrino abbassato a pollice sempre pronto per approvare le migliori realizzazioni.
The VAG enthusiasts’number is so extended that quantifying the concept of “little” and “niche”audience could be an hard effort. To simplify, we could say that the Turbokurve is almost 8 miles awayt from the Eni gas station; to drive such few miles, it takes about 30-40 minutes in the evening. There are two lanes in the streets, two lines. Windows down and thumbs up ready for the best cars.
Il GTI treffen nasce come ritrovo per possessori di golf GTI e si evolve gradualmente in una gigantesca festa, a cui ognuno è libero di partecipare. Non si paga alcun biglietto, non c’è alcuna selezione e l’unico requisito morale per essere accettati dall’intera kermesse è presentarsi con un mezzo obiettivamente sopra la media. Ed è proprio lo spirito di fratellanza che ci ha spinto a prediligere il pre-evento, ritenuto ormai vero momento di eccellenza nella scena della personalizzazione delle automobili.
The GTI Treffen was born in 1981 as Golf GTI meeting but, year after year, it is evolving in an enormous party, to which every brand is free to be represented. No tickets, no selection: the only commonly accepted requisite is to drive a dope car. This sense of membership and brotherhood glorifies the days of the pre-event as the “excellence” ones.
Resta comunque la festa delle Golf GTI e di tutte le altre VAG. Come è ovvio e giusto che sia sono le migliori realizzazioni europee a scorrazzare, regine del reame, attraverso i boschi e i laghi austriaci.

Anno dopo anno la realtà italiana al Wörth si consolida al punto da risultar sorpresi dalla mole di connazionali presenti in Carinzia. Come ogni ritrovo si sfrutta l’occasione per abbinare un viso a un nickname, scambiare due parole e soprattutto darsi appuntamento ai prossimi eventi nazionali, JCM a Marzaglia (MO) e SO.GA, a Peschiera del Garda (VR), entrambi il 31 maggio e 1° giugno.
Italian presence at Wörthersee Tour has grown to a massive amount year after year: we were amazed by the moltitude of compatriots in Carinzia. Like it happens during “standard” meetings, we still exploited this circumstance to couple some nicknames with faces, have a good time with our friends and, above all, take appointments to our next national event: the JCM at Marzaglia (Modena, Emilia Romagna) and the SO.GA at Peschiera (Verona, Veneto), both the 31th of May and the 1st of June.
In due soli giorni non è stato semplice godersi lo spettacolo e organizzare features: neanche il tempo di un gioviale pranzo domenicale da Fruhmann che già stavamo pianificando il racconto dei prossimi due articoli. Brian, soldato dal Texas, e Bersha, BMX freestyler del Veneto, entrambi con una passione in comune: alzare ed abbassare veicoli tutto il giorno. A presto ragazzi!
In only two days it wasn’t easy to enjoy the show and organize features: not even time to complete a jovial sunday launch at Fruhmann, and we were already planning the next pieces.
