Non è facile descrivere nuovamente il Banana meeting. Basterebbe solamente copiare e incollare i numerosi post su Facebook che abbiamo letto lunedì e martedì per sintetizzare l’evento: l’amicizia, il senso di fratellanza, la voglia di condividere passioni e conoscenze. Suona come il solito cliché? Bene, sono 5 anni che riscriviamo la definizione di Meeting dalle nostre parti.
It’s not so easy to describe again the Banana meeting. It should be enough to copy and paste all the posts written on Facebook by the participants that we read on Monday and Tuesday to summarize this event: the friendship, the sense of brotherhood, the desire to share passions and knowledges. It sounds like the usual cliché? Well, it’s 5 years that we type our personal definition of Meeting.
L’evento è reso possibile dagli sforzi dei ragazzi mantovani del forum di cleaned.it. Si tratta di un ritrovo che non ama prendersi troppo sul serio, come si intuisce già dal nome, preferendo dar valore a ciò che unisce, alla passione che bene o male ci accomuna tutti. La priorità di questo evento rimane divertirsi in compagnia andando oltre semplici e limitanti distinzioni di “livello”, di brand e di stile; le apparenze e l’impatto sul pubblico esterno vengono sfacciatamente trascurate. Potremmo scrivere che cleaned.it è una famiglia aperta, che sa accogliere vecchi fratelli e nuovi passanti. Ed è tutto vero. Tutto vero.
The meeting, made possible by the effort of the Mantova’s guys of the forum of cleaned.it. It’s always a meeting characterized by a joyfull spirit, for the people than want’t take too much serious, can be guessed already by the name, preferring give the value that keep us united, to the passion nor or less make everyone similar. The priority of this meeting is always having fun with in company beyond the simple distinction about OEM brand and tuned style; sure enough, the appearances and the impact on the external crowd are blatantly neglectted. We could write that cleaned.it is an open family, which can embrace older brothers and new guys. And it’s all true. All true.
E comunque, non risulta affatto semplice spiegare agli altri come una semplice automobile possa originare questa voglia di stare assieme che ci caratterizza. Semplicemente, questa continua ricerca di una creazione di un gruppo fisico, emanazione di un nucleo virtuale, è tipica del nostro presente: da un lato ci si chiude estremamente sui social, dall’altro, come nei veri giorni di festa, si seleziona una serie di momenti in cui aprirsi, uscire e incontrarsi con altra gente. Ed è così che è nato e si è sviluppato il Banana Meeting, giunto ormai alla quinta edizione.
However it’s not so easy to explain to the others people as a simple car can create a spirit of aggregation and unity in a group of very different individuals. Simply, this continuous search for a creation of a physical group, as an emanation of a virtual core, is typical of our present: on the one hand we are extremely closed on social, on the other, like real holidays, we select a number of moments in which open ourselves, go out and meet other people. And so the Banana Meeting was born and grown, now at its fifth edition.

La scimmia, la passione vera, è l’affrontare guai e problemi, con piena consapevolezza, per un solo e unico motivo: trarne un beneficio. Apparente? Reale? Non importa. È il nostro modo di vivere la personalizzazione dell’auto, come una sana dipendenza, da cui non si vuole uscire. Non stiamo giocando. Non stiamo spendendo perchè stiamo vivendo una crisi di mezz’età, non ci compriamo una seconda auto più giovane per farci l’amante. Di norma, la prendiamo iscritta ASI.
But, really, what is the Banana Meeting? Starting from the T-shirt, Feed your monkey, to try to explain to you. The monkey, the true passion, is to tackle the troubles and the problems with a deep awareness, for only one single reason: have benefit. Apparent? Real? Doesn’t matter. It’s our pure way to live the car customization, like a good addiction, we won’t stop. We are not playing. We are not spending money because we are in a midlife crisis, we don’t buy a brand new second car to make our younger lover. Normally, we take a vintage car.
Il Banana Meeting dura un intero weekend. Il sabato è totalmente incentrato sulla preparazione dell’accampamento notturno in riva al laghetto e si trasforma sempre in un goliardico after a base di salumi, gnocco fritto, birre e discorsi sconclusionati sulle reali cause dell’estinzione dei dinosauri. A tratti ci si ricorda di essere venuti ad un ritrovo di auto.
The Banana Meeting lasts a whole weekend. Saturday is totally focused on preparing the camping for the night along the lake and it always turns into an exuberant after, with cured meats, gnocco fritto, beer and non sense speeches about the real causes of the extinction of the dinosaurs. La domenica è il giorno centrale dell’evento. Sia chi ha campeggiato, sia chi ha dormito in albergo si prepara velocemente per arrivare verso metà mattinata ai laghi di Margonara. Tutti pronti per il pranzo, finalmente le macchine prendono il loro posto e si lasciano ammirare per tutta la giornata.
Sunday is the main day of the Banana. Both those who have been camping, and those who have slept in the hotel, quickly prepares to arrive around mid-morning to Margorana lakes. All ready for lunch, finally the cars take their place and so all the guys can admire them for all the day long.
Gli utenti di cleaned.it hanno sempre navigato per siti e forum di tutto il mondo, creando un gusto condiviso che trae spunti dalle tendenze statunitensi, giapponesi ed europee. Ciò che accomuna questi scenari così lontani è la spasmodica attenzione al gruppo ruota, con la consapevolezza che grande parte della resa estetica di un auto personalizzata risiede nella combinazione cerchio-gomma-assetto.
L’utenza Cleaned.it promuove dal 2007 una posizione radicale di difesa dei cerchi aftermarket originali, siano essi raffinati scomponibili o semplici monoblocco adatti alle strade di ogni giorno. BBS, OZ, Tramont, Speedline, Schmidt sono solo alcuni marchi rappresentati al ritrovo, ed hanno fatto la storia della personalizzazione venendo considerati ancora oggi eccellenza.
Il caldo invito “no repliche”, all’apparenza caratterizzato da ostentata superiorità, è invece un consiglio amichevole più vicino all’antico motto della nonna: chi spende poco spende due volte, resistere alla tentazione di cedere all’apparenza spiccia alla lunga paga sempre.
The cleaned.it users have always loved to surf along the worlwideweb, creating a personal taste taking inspiration by US, Japan and Euro trends. The aspect that really unites all these styles is the spasmodic attention to the wheels, with the knowledge that large part of the aesthetic pleasure of a custom car stays in the choice of the wheel group.
Cleaned.it promote since 2007 a radical position to protect and to defend the original aftermarket wheels, from elegant three piece wheels to simple monoblock suitable for the everyday streets: BBS, OZ, Speedline and Schmidt are only some of the brands rappresent to the meeting, and they made the history of customization and brands whose products and are still considered excellent.
The “warm” advice “no replica wheels”, at the first look seems an ostentation superiorty, is a friendly advice closest to the ancient motto the old grandmother’s claim “who spend few money, spends twice”, inviting the users to resist the temptation to give up to the flattery of appearance to all the (low) cost and not to sacrifice the quality of the product in the name of the look. No fake.
Il pranzo della domenica, per ogni italiano, è sacro: anche il Banana Meeting, che cresce anno dopo anno come una famiglia numerosa, non ne vuole sapere di rinunciare al rito domenicale. Il vero spirito del Banana è tutto qui: quasi 150 persone che si siedono a tavola a mangiare del buon cibo fatto in casa e parlare ininterrottamente di auto, lavoro, hobby e qualsiasi altra cosa.

Allo scorso Banana, Lido, ha viaggiato da Cuneo, con i ragazzi del Raschia Garage, con il suo 127 bianco. Dopo dodici mesi, si è presentato con la sua nuova fiammante Fiat 124. Ad oggi, si è concentrato sugli interventi di restauro e riparazione essenziali per la messa in strada e su drastiche operazioni su molle, ammortizzatori e balestre per ridurre l’altezza dal suolo.
Last year Lido and Raschia Garage guys they have traveled all the way from Cuneo on Lido’s white Fiat 127. After twelve months, he showed up with his brand-new Fiat 124. Currently, ha had focused his effort on essential restoration and on mandatory repair for a daily use and on hard operations on springs, shocks absorbers and crossbow to reduce the height from the ground.
Parlando di nuovi amici è il caso di soffermarci su Damiano e il suo Passat 35i Syncro. La scelta di riprendere il binomio rosso/grigio della carrozzeria per la rifinitura dei BBS RS è una scelta classica ma mai scontata. Le lip lucide e il tono più chiaro scelto per la rosa danno più luce al corpo vettura rinfrescando la linea molto 80’s.
Talking about new guys, we must linger on Damiano and his 35i Passat Syncro. The choice to recall for the finishing of the BBS RS the couple of tone grey and red of the body is a classical and solid one choice. The polished lips and the paler grey used for the centers give more lightness to that Passat and refresh the 80’s style lines.
Marco, tra un Banana e l’altro, ha lavorato molto sul cabrio: prima ha montato un cambio a 5 marce in luogo dell’originale a 4 e poi ha deciso di aggiornare profondamente il gruppo ruota. È comunque rimasto fedele alla Schmidt ma ha compiuto un netto passo in avanti. Dai Modern Line 14″ è passato direttamente a uno dei grandi classici della produzione tedesca: TH Line scomponibili da 14″ nelle misure 8j e 8.5j.
Marco during this year has worked hard on the cabby: first, he updated the gearbox from 4 to 5 gears and then he decided to update the wheel set-up. He was still loyal with the Schmidt, removing the 14″ Modern Line in order to one of the masterpiece of Deutsch Tuning: 14″ 8j and 8.5j 3 pieces TH Line.
La Miata di Spaghetti Garage è forse nella sua forma migliore di sempre. Riverniciata di un unico rosso, le morbide linee della spider di Fuchu possono finalmente risplendere e far rendere al meglio i dettagli in nero opaco e i BBS RM da 8.5jx15″ in finitura dorata con dadone e viti nere. Passano gli anni, ma la Miata di Clarence migliora ogni volta che la vediamo, riconfermandosi per noi la più bella d’Italia.
Spaghetti Garage Miata is maybe in its best condition ever. Recently repainted in the OEM red, the soft lines of Fuchu spider can finally shine and all the details are highlighted: plastic aero part in matte black, and the BBS RM 8.5jx15″ with golden center, black screws and hexcaps. Year after year, Clarence’s Miata is always the best Miata rolling in Italy.
Andrea sta definendo nuove espressioni di bellezza applicate ad una Punto GT. Non siamo abituati a vedere l’utilitaria torinese in questo stile , e ogni volta che la incrociamo rimaniamo senza parole. Gli sforzi per arrivare a questo livello sono stati molteplici: dalla completa riverniciatura, alle sospensioni ad aria pressochè artigianali e al ringiovanimento apportato agli OZ Monza da 15″: viteria oro per accompagnare l’aumento delle generose lip. Questi sono tuttavia solamente gli aspetti più evidenti di un accurato progetto di restauro e cura a tutto tondo, dal motore agli interni.
Andrea is going to define new ideas of beauty applied to the Punto GT. We are not used to see a Punto GT tuned in this clean, and each time we see it we stay without words. The efforts to obtain this GT were multiple, starting from a complete re-painting, an handmade work to create air-ride suspension to the radical rejuvenation operation done on the 15″ OZ Monza: big lips and gold screw are the perfect combo. Anyway these are the most evident aspects on a complete work dealing with the engine and the interior.
La Cinquecento di Teo, admin del forum Cleaned.it, è stata acquistata per essere usata come auto da tutti i giorni. Ma il proprietario ha un concetto particolare di daily, per cui, è durata effettivamente poco da originale. Dopo un breve periodo di accurato restauro di tutte le parti soggette ad usura, dalla meccanica agli interni ed esterni, Teo ha montato un assetto, cerchi Tramont TY2 da 13″, gomme 165/55, e un interno completo “Michael Schumacher” derivante da una Fiat Seicento.
Teo’s Cinquecento, who is an admin of Cleaned.it, was bought with the intent to be used everyday. But Teo has a particular concept of daily car, so it’s stay stock just in time for the mechanical and engine restoration. After that, Teo mounted a set of coilovers, Tramont TY2 13″ wheels and a complete “Micheal Schumacher” interior setup, from a Fiat Seicento.
Alla domenica del Banana Meeting #5 è arrivato anche Matteo con la Fastidiosa. Abbiamo già avuto la fortuna di ammirare il suo “battesimo” al Wörth 2016, ma è sempre un piacere per noi poter ospitare sulle nostre pagine i progetti del Bario, sempre accurati e di ottimo livello.
On Sunday morning he arrived also Matteo with the “Fastidiosa” (“pesky”). We were lucky to meet him at Wörth 2016 in occasion of its “baptism” in Arneitz, but it is still a pleasure for us, to host on our pages his projects, always accurate and at the top.
Dopo il look USA sfoggiato allo scorso Banana, Mattia ha optato per un look più classico ed europeo per quest’anno. Ha definitivamente abbandonato i canali differenziati al posteriore, per cui la Golf si presenta con tutti i BBS LM in egual misura, da 8.5j x 18″. Questa scelta rende la linea della sua GTI mk4 più armoniosa al posteriore, migliorando l’abbinamento con il kit Jubi, utilizzato per minigonne e sottoparaurti posteriore mentre all’anteriore troviamo la lip della versione VR6.
After the US look sported at last Banana, Mattia this year has opted for a classic and european one. He finally abandoned the rear huge lip, so now the Golf has all the BBS LM in the same measure, 8.5j x 18″. This choice makes the line of his mk4 GTI more harmonious in the rear, improving the matching with the Jubi kit, used for the rear spoiler and the skirts, meanwhile the front lip is from the V6 version.
Dopo cabrio e variant, Stefano è approdato alle tre porte scegliendo questa Golf 1.9 TDI in una bellissima sfumatura di grigio importata direttamente dalla Germania. Dopo aver riversato tutta la meccanica e la conoscenza dalla sua ex Variant, ha deciso di abbinargli un set di RS700 da 18″. Avendola già vista al Wörth lo scorso Maggio, possiamo solamente confermare la nostra impressione: una delle più basse, semplici e belle mk4 viste negli ultimi anni.
Stefano, after mk3 cabrio and mk4 touring, he has finally reached the three doors choosing a 1.9 tdi in a beautiful shade of grey, that is imported from the Germany. After he has swapped all the mechanical and knowledge from his ex touring, he find a set of 18″ BBS RS700. We just saw it at Wörth, and we can confirm our impression: one of the lowest, “cleanest” and coolest mk4 seen in the last years.
Federico può considerarsi la sintesi del forum cleaned.it: è il proprietario della Passat 35i verdona con Borbet A da 16″ bicolore e di questa Clio 182cv ph3 Team azzurro puffo, oggi con Speedline da 15″ su 195/55 e sedili Subaru. Nonostante questa Clio sia totalmente impostata con lo spirito racing in mente, la curiosità di quasi tutti i ragazzi presenti al raduno è la prova che le auto divertenti e veloci sono sempre ben accette e ammirate.
Federico can evaluate himself as the perfect synthesis of the recent trends of cleaned.it. He is also the owner of the green 35i Passat rolling on bicolor 16″ Borbet A and, obviously, of this “smurfs” light blue Clio 182cv ph3 Team on 15″ Speedline on 185/55 and Subaru seats. This Clio is totally racing and despite this, the curiosity of almost all the people present at the Banana is the proof that fun and fast cars are always welcome and admire.
Al Wörth 2014 abbiamo deciso di approfondire la conoscenza con Bersha e la sua Polo con assetto idraulico. Da allora Bersha si è dedicato al suo nuovo progetto: una Z3 Coupé su Eta Beta Krone da 18″ prontamente avvicinata al terreno questa volta da un assetto a ghiera. Inaspettatamente al Banana #5 si è presentato a bordo della sua fidata 6N, questa volta dotata di Nothelle N-Classic.
We deepend the knowledge with Bersha and his hydro Polo 6n at Wörth 2014. Since these days Bersha has focused his effort on a new project: a Z3 Coupè on 18″ Eta Beta Krone and lowered this time on coilover. Unexpectedly he decided to partecipate at Banana #5 with his Polo, currently with Nothelle N-Classic wheels.
Tiberio ha scelto di impostare la personalizzazione del suo 328 coupè, conservato in condizioni eccellenti, restando coerente con l’epoca di costruzione. Infatti ha apportato le giuste modifiche che richiamano completamente gli anni 90: kit M, scarico completo, fari full red e OZ Breyton full polish. Semplice e ben fatta.
Tiberio has based his tune-up respecting the right epoque of his well preserved e36 coupè. Indeed he has installed the right components in order to evocate the 90s year: kit M, full red rear lamps and full polished OZ Breyton. Easy and well done.
L’Audi A3 8P di Gian presenta uno stance d’effetto ma non estremo: statica, con i suoi OZ Futura da 18″ in misure non estreme, rappresenta un’efficace sintesi di una daily car completamente sfruttabile, senza rinunciare a nulla. Un ottimo esempio di auto a tutto tondo.
Gian’s8P Audi A3 has a cool but not extreme stance: it’s static, and with its OZ Futura 18″ is an efficient synthesis in a calmy usable daily car.
Andrea, co-fondatore e fotografo di SG, finalmente si è presentato al Banana #5 con il suo e36 325i, attrezzato con assetto a ghiera HSD Monopro importato direttamente dall’Inghilterra, e con i classici ma immortali Style 32 dai canali differenziati. In attesa di una rinfrescata alla carrozzeria, le perplessità di Andrea animano le discussione di tutto il forum: montare il Kit M-Sport o no?

Il progetto di Alessandro e della sua Punto HGT è stato avviato circa una decina di anni fa e ad oggi, rimane una delle Punto mk2 più curate d’Europa. Ciò che ne risulta è una vera show car curata in ogni particolare, ispirata allo stile europeo dei primi anni duemila. Il set-up attuale prevede BBS RS da 16″ full polished, interni completamente ricoperti in pelle beige, motore e meccanica completamente cromati, freni maggiorati, carrozzeria completamente lisciata e un insolito assetto ad aria per preservare questa Punto da ogni danno al sottoscocca, e allo stesso tempo avere l’altezza della macchina al perfetto mm.
Alessandro has started to work on his Punto HGT more than ten years ago and now, he is the owner of one of the most well finished Punto mk2 of Europe. The final result is a really show car inspired by european style of the first year of 2000s, with modifies in each component. The current set-up is made by 16″‘ BBS RS full polished, leather interior, chromed engine, smoothed car body and an unsual airride, for preserve the underbdy, but at the same time having the perfect fitment.
Emanuele, dopo anni di Golf GTI e una breve parentesi tra Avant e nafta, ha optato per lanciarsi sul nuovo Maggiolino di Volkswagen, 2.0 Turbo. Sfumato il monopolio dei cerchi a canale rovesciato, negli ultimi anni abbiamo assistito ad un rapido rimescolamento: anche Emanuele ha quindi optato per degli OZ Formula HLT, multirazze dal disegno leggero e pulito, che danno a questo Beetle un fresco ed ammiccante al corsaiolo.
After years of GTI and a briefly momento with an a diesel A4, Emanuele has chosen to buy the new Beetle 2.0 Turbo. In these last year we saw a gradually abandon of deep wheels in order to a mix of various style: even Emanuele has bought these clean and light OZ Formula HLT, and they gave some “racing” vibe to this Beetle
Fabio da qualche mese ha venduto la sua mk3 cabrio per passare a questa Lexus IS. In poco tempo e con le idee ben chiare, con l’aiuto dei ragazzi de La Bassa Garage, ha bruciato tuttele tappe: assetto Airlift 3P fresco di fabbrica, OZ Futura da 20″ full polish rispettivamente 9.5j all’anteriore e 10.5j al posteriore, baffo anteriore e lame sottoporta direttamente dagli USA. Non è un mezzo che si vede facilmente in tutto il mondo, ancora meno in Italia, per questo non possiamo che far i complimenti per ciò che ha tirato fuori.
Fabio has sold his mk3 cabrio some months ago to switch on this Lexus IS. In few times, with precise ideas and with the help of La Bassa Garage crew, he has burned all the step: Airlift 3P airride, 9.5j and 10.5j 20″ OZ Futura full polished and a US aerokit. It’s not so easy see this IS worldwide, and so in Italy it is very unusual: for these reasons, we have to congratulate Fabio for his fresh project.
Ogni anno, verso aprile, iniziamo a scorrere il calendario. Agosto, classico mese feriale, striscia nera diagonale sulle settimane 32 e 33. Settembre, classico rientro dalle ferie, prime influenze, ultimi bagni: e tutti i weekend cerchiati in rosso. Noi abbiamo evidenziato tutti i weekend di settembre come “il weekend del Banana”, ergo, non si prendono impegni a priori. Matrimonio? Battesimo? Cambio auto? Sono argomenti di Ottobre. A Settembre, c’è il Banana.
Ogni anno ci ritroviamo carichi verso il Banana per incontrare i ragazzi di cleaned.it e molti dei nostri amici, perché, in fondo, abbiamo tutti quanti bisogno di definire un momento, un luogo centrale, un perno tra i molti ritrovi. Sicuramente non è il più blasonato, sicuramente è il meno pettinato, sicuramente è quello con meno selezione. Ma a noi, non interessa nulla. A noi interessa vedervi, per un giorno, per due giorni o per sei ore. A noi basta arrivare al Banana, farsi mangiare dalle zanzare, annotare le evoluzioni del campionato lombardo di natanti RC (ndA, 2016 anno dell’elettrico, ugualmente rumoroso ma più “eco-friendly”) e stare con voi. Vivere con voi questo weekend che, anno dopo anno, nella sua semplicità, risulta essere sempre più l’evento clou della stagione. Ci ritroveremo di fronte a un cantiere prima o poi, e allora ci ricorderemo delle sgommate al laghetto, delle grattate nell’entrata nel giardino, dello gnocco fritto, delle colazioni al bar e delle tirate per la bassa mantovana. Al prossimo anno cari amici!
Every year, in April, we begin to shift the calendar. August, the classic month for holidays, has the weeks 32 and 33 signed with black diagonal stripes. September, the classic month in which return from holiday, with the early influences, and with the last trip to the seaside has all the weekends circled in red. We have detected all the weekends in September as “the Banana weekend”, and so, we don’t take commitments in advance. Marriage? Baptism? Change of car? All topics of October. In September, there is the Banana.
Every year, we are full of energy, ready to join the Banana to meet the cleaned.it guys and many of our friends. We all have the need to define a moment, a central location, a pin among the many meetings. Surely, the Banana is not the most noble, surely isn’t the smartest, definitely it is the one with less selection. But to us, it doesn’t matter. We are interested in seeing you, for a day, for two days or six hours. We just get the Banana, get eaten by mosquitoes, record the evolution of the League of RC boats (author’s note, 2016, green year, electric power, same noise but more eco-friendly) and stay with you. Live with you this weekend that, year after year, in its simplicity, is becoming always the main event of the season. We will meet in front of a construction site sooner or later, and then we will remember the gummy at the little lake, the scratch of the chassis entering in the garden, the gnocco fritto (come on, we can’t translate anything, go to google images), the breakfast at the friendly cruises along the streets. We’ll wait for the next year, dear friends!
