Roberto macina moltissimi km all’anno per lavoro e ha sempre avuto le idee chiare su come sarebbe dovuta essere la sua daily car: elegante, spaziosa e sufficientemente prestazionale. La scelta è ricaduta su una nera Golf mk5 2.0 TDI, perfetta sintesi delle sue esigenze.
Roberto drives a lot for work, so when it was time to purchase his new daily car, his ideas were crystal clear: it had to be elegant, well refined, spacious and fairly fast. He instantly settled on a black, 2.0 Tdi, mk5 Golf.
L’America non ha rivestito solo il ruolo di musa ispiratrice, ma anche di fornitrice di cerchi: i quattro BBS RS silver da 18’’, scomponibili in 2 pezzi, sono infatti arrivati da City of Industries, California. Ma la Romagna, terra di passione, ha voluto incidervi la propria essenza nell’aspetto, donandoli un color bordeaux come il Sangiovese e nell’anima meccanica, trasformando i posteriori in 3 pezzi. Dopo aver separato la rosa dal canale interno e acquistato le lip esterne da 2,25” è arrivato il momento del primo fit test: l’ 8j e il 9,25j si sposano alla perfezione con le 215/35 e il bordeaux con il nero è un accostamento cromatico così classico da risultare ora inconsueto.
America was not only Roberto’s styling muse, but also the wheels supplier: the silver 18” 2 pieces BBS RS came from City of Industries, California. But the Romagna, a land full of passion, wanted to give its soul to this set: they were painted in burgundy, closely reminding Sangiovese wine, and two of them were split into 3 pieces. After separating the center and scouting two 2,25” external lips, it was time for the first fitment test: 8j and 9,25j blend perfectly with the 215/35, and the burgundy – black color combination is such a classic one that now seems to be unusual.
Da vero amante della guida Roberto ha subito migliorato le doti meccaniche del TDI attraverso una leggera mappatura alla centralina, un adeguato impianto frenante completo Audi S3 8p ed il kit Ultralow -80mm di H&R. Tuttavia è la ricerca del giusto compromesso tra prestazione ed estetica ad orientare Roberto tra le numerose modifiche possibili: il telaio è stato notchato mentre i tappi in plastica nel vano motore sono stati sostituiti da analoghi in alluminio.
Being a true lover of handling, Roberto immediately improved the Tdi engine qualities through a ECU upgrade, while enhancing the mechanics with a -80 HR Ultralow kit and a complete Audi S3 braking system. However, it’s the research of the best compromise between performance and aesthetics that drives Roberto among the huge world of tune-up possibilities: the chassis has been notched while the plastic caps have been replaced by aluminum ones.
Sono senza dubbio l’originalità e la cura del dettaglio a decretare la buona riuscita di un progetto e Roberto, ispiratosi allo stile US, si è focalizzato su interventi discreti, evidenti a un solo occhio esperto. Il paraurti anteriore GT europeo è stato sostituito dall’analogo statunitense abbinato ad un sottoparaurti Edition30. La sezione frontale è stata ulteriormente impreziosita dalla verniciatura in nero opaco della calandra e degli specchietti mentre i fari Xenon, le gemme arancioni e le frecce laterali fumeè completano il look US. Per essere considerata al 100% americana oramai le manca solo la targa della California.
The novelty and the care put into details always make the difference in this scene, declaring the success of a project. Roberto, inspired by US style, focused on delicate mods, that only a true enthusiasts can notice. European GT front bumper has been replaced by US one, paired with a color matched Edition30 front lip. Front section has been further enhanced by Xenon headlights, orange turn signals and a total black look for side indicators, grill and mirrors. A purely aesthetic California plate surely isn’t allowed on Italian streets, but flows so well with the American theme.
I cataloghi accessori Volkswagen sono stati studiati a fondo per completare le modifiche estetiche: da quello statunitense Roberto ha scelto le minigonne ed i fari posteriori R32, mentre dalla linea europea arrivano il sottoparaurti posteriore Edition30 e lo spoiler GTI.
Roberto has deeply studied Volkswagen’s accessories catalogues to complete its exterior look, picking the best from each market: from the US one he chose R32 sideskirts and rear lights, while the European line was selected for the rear Edition30 lip and the GTI spoiler.
La natura di daily car è evidente all’interno dell’abitacolo per il quale sono state selezionate numerose componenti OEM+, adatte a rendere più piacevole la guida: l’ergonomia del volante mk6 GTI si sposa alla perfezione con la base cambio della TT mk1 e il pomello Forge mentre il total black look si rinnova nella scelta del cielo nero GTI. A completare il tutto troviamo uno schermo rns510 e la pedaliera, ovviamente GTI.
The interior of the car reveals its daily usage vocation and features plenty of OEM+ components, chosen to make the driving experience more enjoyable: the mk6 GTI steering wheel matches perfectly the TT mk1 gear lever gaiter and the Forge knob while the total black look is renewed in the GTI black headliner. Completing the interior mods, we can see a RNS510 screen and GTI pedals.
